Where a little help can go a long way
Event Date: October 23rd, 2020
Location: Mustard Seed School and Acres of Hope
Donation Goal: $500
Help us provide Halloween Costumes for the Children at Mustard Seed School!
This amazing school provides assistance to children (ages 3-15) of homeless families entering or re-entering the public school system. Your support will help us buy Halloween costumes for the entire school (25 kids) ranging from preschool to 8th grade. Costumes will also be donated to Acres of Hope, who provides housing to homeless women and children.
About the Project
Our Halloween Helpers event is a fairly new campaign inspired by the hope to help, even if in a small way. The project started last year with Mustard Seed’s School, a school for homeless kids, who needed help with Halloween costumes. Each year they host their own in-house Halloween event for their students and buy brand new costumes for each child attending their school at that time.
There is big importance on ensuring that these kids have a costume they can keep as sometimes it is one of the few things they can call their own. This year we’ve been lucky enough to expand our reach and partner with Acres of Hope, where we can also donate Halloween costumes to children facing housing insecurity.
We will be delivering the costumes Halloween week in time for their school activities and of course, the big night itself!
The Halloween Helpers Project directly benefits kids at Mustard Seed School and Acres of Hope. Mustard Seed School is an amazing, free, private school for homeless children in the Sacramento area. Their goal is to provide quality education to homeless children in a safe, nurturing, and structured environment, while supplying them with important resources like food, clothing, immunizations, and counseling. Acres of Hope is another incredible organization that offers housing and other support to homeless women and their children. Their mission is to stop re-occurring homelessness through practical life skills training, job skills, mentoring, and encouragement.
With your donations, we will be able to provide children in these programs with costumes that they wouldn’t have the luxury of otherwise. Every kid deserves to celebrate Halloween. With your help, we can make that happen.
You can participate in this year’s Halloween Helper with a small donation of $20. Each donation will provide a costume for one little ghost or princess. If we are able to reach our donation goal, we will be able to provide costumes for the entire school!
Any donation is appreciated, no matter how small. And as always,100% of your tax-deductible donation will be used for our project.
If you have any questions about the event or about how to get involved, email the project leader Melina Sanchez at firstname.lastname@example.org.
