We’re excited to announce a new project we’re kicking off called Halloween Helpers!
This project will help us provide Halloween costumes for all of the children at the Mustard Seed School. This amazing school is a free, private organization that provides assistance to children (ages 3-15) of homeless families entering or re-entering the public school system. Your support will help us buy Halloween costumes for the entire school (25 kids) ranging from preschool to 8th grade.
A $20 donation will provide a costume for one child and our goal is to raise $500 to cover the costs for the entire school. We will be delivering the costumes Halloween week in time for their school activities and of course, the big night itself!
As always, 100% of your generous donation will be used for this project. If you are interested in learning more you can watch our video or visit our donation page. If you have questions about the project, you can contact our project leader Melina Sanchez at email@example.com.
The Tower is about connecting people with causes, so we want you to know about the people actually making that happen! Meet Melina Sanchez, who is helping with our Business Development (and a lot more!).
Hi everyone! Nice to meet you all – my name is Melina Sanchez. I learned about Tower of Niceness through Alin, a friend of mine and fellow Tower of Niceness team member, she mentioned to me that there was an opening for a volunteer position with a non-profit. I wasn’t quite sure what the position was, but I figured I needed some work experience and this was my opportunity to achieve that.
After I did some research I realized that this was just what I was looking for. A non-profit whose goals I believe in. I’ve always liked to help others and it feels amazing to have found an organization that does just that. I’m proud to be a new member of this team and will hopefully help strengthen Tower of Niceness as we move forward.
With a combination of funds raised from the Night of Niceness, our General Fund and the 2019 Furry Friends Fundraiser we were able to donate over $4,000 this year to benefit four different organizations!
All of these volunteer led groups are doing amazing work helping animals that have been abandoned, displaced, or retired from duty. Your support will help pay for medical costs and adoption fees for each of these causes. That means dozens or even hundreds of animals will be better off because of YOU!
All three of these organizations do amazing work throughout the greater Sacramento Region with little funding lots of volunteers. Our fundraiser will provide much needed food, supplies, medicine and also help cover adoption fees and medical costs as well.
As always, 100% of your generous donation will be used for this project. If you are interested in learning more you can watch our video or visit our donation page. Thank you for your niceness!
This year was our largest turnout ever for both volunteers and those that needed our help. We’re learning as we go, but we couldn’t be happier with how things went. Over 100 volunteers jumped in to help from the welcome station to those helping guests to our outreach team bring supplies to those in surrounding areas – they all were amazing. Special thanks to our coordinators: Ian Tipton, Brandon Miller, Holly Cable, Cyndie French, Cindy Pratt, Paul Stephan and Margaret Campana.
Together with your kind donations, we handed out over 2,300 items including hygiene kits, sleeping bags, backpacks, blankets, shoes, jackets and more. Plus hundreds more clothing items purchased and bought by many of our volunteers. It’s easy to see how great the need is and why we need everyone’s help to bring clothing and supplies.
Our favorite part of the day were the stories of friendships made among volunteers and our guests. Watching so many of our team just spending one on one time with our guests making them feel special and heard. That’s what the day was all about.
Thank you all for supporting this project and helping it become such a success over the years! There’s already discussion of expanding to a 2nd city next year so stay tuned for that. To learn how you can volunteer and support the Tower of Niceness, visit us at https://towerofniceness.org .
Thank you for supporting the 2nd Annual Night of Niceness!! The event this year was a great success and thanks to your generosity we were able to reach our goal with a total of $15,328 raised from ticket sales, auction/raffle items and online donations. With nearly 90% of the event costs (outside the silent auction) covered by our event suppliers, this means we will be able to really boost our niceness for those in need this coming year. And in case you missed the event or want to see the pictures, our awesome photographer has been nice enough to post them all here free of charge to download.
HOW WE PLAN TO HELP
The money raised will be used across all of our Niceness Projects throughout the year in addition to individual project fundraising we will do. We either purchase supplies needed which are directly donated or work closely with organizations to ensure donations are used for specific needs. This helps make sure your money gets to those who need it most. Here’s a reminder of how your donations are put to work:
Help the Homeless – November
Tower Toy Drive – December
Furry Friends Fundraiser – April
General Project Fund – used for individual niceness projects
THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS
Without our sponsors there is no possible way we could have an event like this. Every one of our sponsors came to us and offered to help. Please take a moment to connect with them, support them, and show them a little love on social media.
We are really excited about the number of you ready to step up and help. We will be reaching out shortly to begin forming committees for each of our core projects or you can click here to contact us about volunteer opportunities. We also plan to kick off our Help the Homeless project this later this week. We could us help spreading the word or would even love to have you join us Thanksgiving Morning.
Good Day Sacramento & Cody Stark have been amazing supporters of the Tower since the beginning. We’ve been lucky enough to have them join us every year to do a remote segment during our Help the Homeless project on Thanksgiving but this year we also got to go in the studio to promote the Night of Niceness which was really cool. Check out the segment below!
