Get involved with our 6th Annual Help the Homeless Project

$1,550 of $1,500 raised

Join us for the program that started it all, our 6th Annual Help The Homeless Project. Until Thanksgiving, we will be collecting donations that will go to the growing homeless population in the Sacramento area. With everything that has happened this year, we are planning to have our biggest show of support to date with the support of Rock Creek Elementary School’s WE Club.

Event Details
  • Event Date: November 26, 2020
  • Location: Various Sacramento Shelters
  • Donation Goal: $1,000
About the Project

As our founding event, we are thrilled to see this important project grow. Last year, more than 100 amazing volunteers helped hand out 200 hygiene kits, 50 sleeping bags, 50 backpacks, 30 pairs of shoes, and dozens of jackets, blankets, and sweatshirts. In total we gave to over 150 individuals in 2019.

This year we are ready to beat that record!

With the help of Rock Creek Elementary School’s WE Club, we will be collecting donations, clothes, and supplies to deliver on Thanksgiving Day in downtown Sacramento. The goal is to serve 200+ homeless people plus dozens of local youth living in or utilizing homeless shelters in the area.

Project Impact

According to the Sacramento Homelessness Response Team, homelessness in the county has “been increasing in recent years, with visible signs of impact on individuals and families and in our neighborhoods. On any given night 5,570 persons experience homelessness, 70% of which are unsheltered.” And this was before COVID.

Tower of Niceness was founded with the mission to help people whenever and wherever we can. It feels especially important this year to do just that. With the support of people like you, we will be able to buy supplies for those in need during the holiday season.

Get Involved

You can participate in this year’s Help the Homeless Project with donations. Each donation will provide much-needed support to a member of the homeless community. If we are able to reach our donation goal, we will be able to help more people than ever before! No matter how you choose to participate, niceness nation thanks you.

Donations

More than anything else, we are looking to purchase supplies to create hygiene kits as well as warm clothes for the upcoming winter. The kits cost approximately $10 and the additional items are roughly $15. If you’d like to choose what you donate, we have also created an amazon shopping list that you can pick from:

  • Hygiene Kits: toothbrush/ toothpaste, shampoo/conditioner, lotion, band-aids, chapstick, hand sanitizer, deodorant, combs
  • Additional Items: Backpacks, gloves, blankets, socks, shoes, sleeping bags

As always, the ‘River Rule‘ applies to this project, which means 100% of your donation is delivered to people in need. In addition, your donation is tax-deductible (receipt provided) as we are a registered 501(c)3 non-profit.

If you have any questions about the event or about how to get involved, please email the project leader Tanis Liomin at projects@towerofniceness.org.
